This was such a wonderful book. I put off reading it for a while because of the length, and I will admit that it took me a while to get into it, but once I did, I was in love. Part introspective character study, part artist biography, this story is filled with the the excitement, creativity, and sense of endless possibility of the golden age of comics. The characters are expertly written, at the same time odd and deeply familiar, flawed and lovable. This book was great fun and the characters will stick with me for a very long time.

The characters are very well-written and lead an exciting life. It's based during WWII and is even more fun to read when reading different comic books alongside it. Also, the footnotes give it a realistic style. Very fun (and long) read.
