Depressing (in a "can't put down" way) and thought provoking. Really makes you love and hate humanity by the way we treat each other.

I read this in 1977....I was completely blown away. Opened my eyes....woke me up...shook me up. I've reread several times and just about everything else Upton Sinclair has written!
