I really wasn't sure about this book as I have never really read comics other than a Beano when I was a kid! Once I got used to the layout and story (about 2 comics in) I really could not put it down, it is excellent. I highly recommend giving it a go, if you're a bit unsure about comics then push through and you'll not regret it. I would definitely read this again.

Don't be fooled be the fact it's a comic book, this is one of the best pieces of Cold War science fiction I've ever gotten to read (a list that includes I, Robot and Fahrenheit 451). Few actual books have characters this well-developed or plotlines this twisted. Moore is a genius to have written this.

I read this because my bro told me it was worth the read. I was surprised. I guess I always had a typical thought as to what a comic was, but this has changed my views.

If I had to sum up Watchmen in one word, I would have to go with 'epic.' This is an extremely powerful vision of a dystopian future where superheroes are just those of us who decide to step up and are just as morally ambiguous as those who they "protect." Watchmen is timeless in its scope and a vision of the future morbid enough to rival 1984 and V for Vendetta.
