reviewed [edit] Having seen the movie, the book is much more than I expected. It is long, boring in places, funny in others, and with a satisfactory ending. A young man sets out to become a musketeer, and unwittingly gets into trouble from the start with the very men he desires to fight with - not against. The problems between the king and the cardinal cause division among their people, and the musketeers get involved in protecting, defending, rescuing, and living it up.
